John Cage had a birthday on September 5th, which made choosing him as our first composer, ideal. In addition, John Cage thought outside the box. He didn't always follow the rules when composing music. He sometimes used strange things as instruments. John Cage challenged his peers and audience to listen more, to experiment with sound, and to accept the sounds of our environment as music. It was a great reminder for students, that being unique can be a positive influence in our world. |
Classics for Kids has a little bit more on John Cage.
